Torchwood

The show is really awesome.  The first season was hit or miss at first, but after the 3rd or 4th episode the show really started to take off.  Captain Jack is one of my favorite fictional characters.  The 3rd season is amazing and the 4th (current) season is really good too with some great guest stars like Wayne Knight and Bill Pullman.

This is more than just a spinoff riding the coat tail of Dr. Who.  With the 3rd and current season the show has had a story arch with one problem played out over the whole season instead of like the earlier episodes which followed the more Dr. Who approach of different issues each episode while developing the stories of the characters.  I think this change really help separate the show from Dr. Who.
